Over the summer a few NHL goalies and NHL executives met up in Toronto to discuss the NHL goalie equipment and how they can look for ways to skrink them down to a size where the goalies would no longer look like the pillsbury doughboy. I’m now guessing nothing was ever done because goalies not only look the same, but some look even worse than before.
The NHL says year in and year out they want to promote scoring but do nothing to reduce the size of goalie equipment. I bet a good 25% of these goalies are not even that good, especially ones that play in front of a brick wall of defenders (I’ll leave that up to you to decide who).
Get something done already NHL! Instead of setting up games overseas in the offseason, work on ways to make the game here fairer with more scoring (and actually get it done) since that seems to be a big concern to you. And to be honest, I’m not the type of person who really cares about more scoring, I just feel these goalies are getting away with too much.
