Here is a list of 10 players that could still be on the waiver wire in your fantasy leagues that you should take a look at for the immediate future and the long haul, ESPECIALLY if you’re in a 12+ team league. Hop on them now, because I can guarantee these players will be gone if they are not gone already, and rightfully so.
RW – Devin Setoguchi (San Jose Sharks)
Setoguchi is playing in a top 6 role. He has 7 goals and 12 points in 12 games. I was talking to some Sharks fans and they say he is legit, and a future Selke 40 goal scorer. I don’t think he’ll score 40 goals this year, but expect 25+ goals and around 55-60 points.
RW – Kris Versteeg (Chicago Blackhawks)
Kris is playing in a top 6 role with I believe Pat Kane and Jon Toews. I’ve seen him play and I will tell you now he is a solid player, and as long as he’s playing a big role, he will continue to come through for you. This one is more a pickup you’d want for the immediate future first.
RW – Jakub Voracek (Columbus Blue Jackets)
Voracek has been seeing good ice time, lots of pp time and he’s been coming through so far in his rookie campaign. He his highly skilled but still very young, so expect him to hit a wall. Immediate future pickup.
LW – Alexi Ponikarovsky (Toronto Maple Leafs)
I had Alexei as a sleeper under the Leafs fantasy page projection, so you can refer to that under fantasy hockey. He has been producing so far and you should expect to continue to see some decent production.
C – Bryan Little (Atlanta Thrashers)
One of my favorite young players in the NHL right now. Little is seeing good ice time in all situations and his skill is taking over. Atlanta has no one else to turn too besides my next choice..
C – Todd White (Atlanta Thrashers)
This is an immediate future pickup because Todd has known to been a streaky player. Right now he is at a ppg, and he is really ATL’s only true #1 center.
C – Derick Brassard (Columbus Blue Jackets)
I love this kid as well. He has great hands and he’s been stepping up big time for Columbus. He is at a ppg right now. Expect this kid to challenge for the Calder, he’s the real deal. He is out right now with the flu, though.
C – Doug Weight (NY Islanders)
Weight is NYI’s only true playmaking centerman. He is playing on incentives so don’t expect him to go into hibernation.
D – Andrej Sekera (Buffalo Sabres)
Sekera has 9 assists in only 12 games. I’ve watched very little of him so I can’t give a full scouting report, but with only Spacek on the back end with him as the only other point producer, this can be a good pickup for you.
D – Stephane Robidas (Dallas Stars)
Robidas is another sleeper I initially picked before the season. With Zubov still out and other D-men on the Stars playing down, Robidas should continue to give you some decent production.
